King Gavin is up to his usual shenanigans and making some bold claims again. The former used car salesman turned Governor has declared that California’s middle class pays less in taxes than the middle class in Texas. As absurd as this sounds, he said it angrily and with a straight face.
The amazing and talented investigative team at the Sacremento Bee dug deep and asked King Gavin’s office to back up the claim. Amazingly, they responded with an obscure study from 2018 by the Institue of Taxation and Economic Policy which is (per the Bee), a liberal leaning group. The stunning and brave journalist then goes on to basically say that he could not get the Institute to confirm this as they “…do not compute a specific percentage of Caliornians who pay less/more tax than Texans.” What does the Sac Bee’s article then do? Determine that they cannot indepently verify the claim. They stop just short of calling the Lying Liar King Gavin a lying liar. How stunning and brave. This is pulitzer prize shit right here.
As a former card carrying resident of both Texas and California, I have some personal knowledge on this topic. I made the decistion to flee California in 2017 without looking back. (I was afraid if I did, I would turn into a pillar of salt.) The first thing I did to celebrate my new found freedom in a less blue state was to buy an AR-15 and a case of ammo. Having barely escaped California with the shirt on my back, I know a little something about their taxation and let me tell you this is the most ridiculous claim that could possibly slither out of this chronic lying liar’s mouth.
Let’s take a look at some actual numbers:
- $100,000.00 a year salary:
- California tax rate: 10%
- Texas tax rate: 0%
- Gas taxes:
- California: 53.9 cents per gallon. Average cost per gallon: $4.43
- Texas: 20 cents per gallon. Average cost per gallon: $2.98
- I bet the best and brightest in California that vote for this clown can’t wait for the eventual findings his Commission to figure out what happened to California’s gas prices is set to release sometime in the next six to eighteen months.
- Sales taxes: shockingly, this is a tie. 8.25% for both states.
- Vehicle Registration:
- California: tough one to answer but the California DMV has provided you with a handy payment calculator here and a not so surprisingly long list of various fees here. I remember paying several hundred dollars on my 2005 Honda Accord when I first moved back to that sink hole in 2009.
- Texas: flat rate $50.75. It went up 75 cents per year since I lived there 21 yeas ago. You’re slipping, Texas!
These are just a few of the highlights. There are so many various forms of taxes in California, it’s not even close. The California Communist Party (CCP) and King Gavin Newsom have been running California straight into the ground for the last several decades. Fact Check: False. As if it even needed to be said. Good Grief. If you’re looking for more laughs, here is an article written in 2019 that refutes the claim King Gavin made in 2023 about a study conducted in 2018.
